box is vented, has drains and a side clean-out door. Nesting material
is
included.
Mount this box high in a tree in dense woodlands with sparse undergrowth.

AWARE and WorkShopCreations.com
AWARE (Atlanta Wildlife Animal Rescue Effort) is proud to announce our partnership
with local Norcross
craftsmen Robert May and Lee Baker (WorkShopCreations.com), to launch a new
fund-raising program to
Atlanta and surrounding communities. Habitats for HOOTIES are beautiful natural
wood houses for owls. The sale of these houses will support the rehabilitation efforts for injured wildlife
at the AWARE center and their use will provide our wonderful nocturnal raptors with more nesting opportunities.
Handmade in Georgia, these boxes are made of high quality western cedar and are designed according to
Audubon specifi cations.
Consider supporting AWARE by giving a special gift to someone that benefi ts
the receiver as well as the feathered residents. The proceeds of your purchase goes directly to help wildlife at
AWARE. Or, if you choose to order from WorkShopCreations.com, please mention AWARE in the comments section of
your order and we will receive a 15% donation from your total purchase!
DID YOU KNOW?
- There are approximately 134 different kinds of owls in the world and
18 species in North America.
- If owls are present in your neighborhood, that is a great indicator of
a well balanced ecosystem.
They are nature’s way of keeping the rodent population “in
check”.
- Owls use their extraordinary vision & excellent hearing to locate
their prey. They are one of the
few birds that have binocular vision - i.e. they cannot move their eyes
so they rotate their heads
instead. They also have windshield wiper eyelids to help keep their eyes
clean!
- Owls have amazing fl exibility in their necks - they have almost full
circle rotation - with 14 neck
bones as opposed to humans’
- Native Americans called owls the “Night Eagle”.
- These owls have been known to live up to 26 years in captivity and 10
years in the wild. Great
Horned Owls are the only known natural predators and most deaths are likely
to be related to
man (shootings & car collisions, poisonings, etc).
- All owls are protected by state and federal regulations. It is illegal
to capture or kill an owl or be
in possession of their feathers.
All proceeds go directly to AWARE [a 501(c)3 nonprofit
organization]
to fund its education and rehabilitation efforts. |
